HELP WANTED- Town of Queensbury-Water Department

METER SERVICE WORKER

 

The Town of Queensbury NY government is governed by an elected five member Town Board which consists of the Town Supervisor and a Councilperson from each of four Wards.  The Town of Queensbury provides numerous services to citizens, businesses and visitors.

 

The Queensbury Water Department currently has an opening for a “Water Meter Service Worker”. Candidate must possess a New York State driver’s license. And have a high school diploma or a GED.

This is a Civil Service Competitive Position and all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications as described in the civil service job description on the attached document. Until exam is given, candidate will serve as a provisional appointment.

Minimum Qualifications are as follows:
1. One year of experience in the installation of water meters using basic computer software related to work including computer devices for meter reading purposes, or
2. One year of experience or training as a plumber’s helper, or
3. One year of experience in mechanical repair work, or as a mechanic in the repair of small parts mechanism.

Six month probationary period applies.

Pay is 28.58/hr for a 40 hour week.

Appointment is on a provisional basis until a civil service exam is given.
