Career Resource Coordinator

 

Hudson Mohawk Area Health Education Center (HM AHEC) is an independent nonprofit organization with a mission to develop and strengthen the healthcare workforce in underserved communities in our 10-county region. HM AHEC is seeking a Career Resource Coordinator to support workforce efforts in a grant funded project through December 31, 2025.

Position Title: Career Resource Coordinator (1.0 FTE)

Description: The Career Resource Coordinator is responsible for implementing programs designed to guide participants through the process of health career exploration, skill assessment, career planning and placement. Responsibilities include the recruitment, coordination, placement, and case management of participants within community-based learning environments. Responsibilities also include: data collection, reporting, and evaluation, as well as assisting in the development of awareness activities, events and programs.

Reporting: The Career Resource Coordinator reports to and is supervised by the Executive Director of HM AHEC and will work collaboratively with the MCHF Director, Healthcare Workforce Development at Adirondack Health Institute (AHI).

Position Schedule: Full-Time; 37.5 hours per week

Pay Status/Range: Non-Exempt; $23.00-$24.50 per hour

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • The Career Resource Coordinator is responsible for program coordination and administration, to include:
  • Recruiting, screening, and selecting participants for participation.
  • Working with Career Centers/One Stops in each county to work with individuals who may be unemployed/underemployed and use of resume assistance services.
  • Assisting participants in accessing resources for academic placement and/or employment.
  • Facilitating wrap-around services for eligible participants.
  • Monitoring participant progress and actively assisting participants in setting and achieving education and career plans through individual interaction. This includes monitoring participants post employment to increase
  • retention.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with community-based agencies and educational institutions critical to program functions.
  • Coordinating and conducting participant training sessions with a focus on communication, teamwork, problem solving and professionalism.
  • Meeting with the MCHF Director, Healthcare Workforce Development as determined.

 

The Career Resource Coordinator is responsible for assisting with program evaluation and reporting. This responsibility includes:  Coordinating data collection and evaluation methods with external agencies as required; and preparing and providing program reports as required.

 

Education and Experience:

  • BA or BS degree in education or healthcare related field
  • Experience working with underrepresented, rural, and economically disadvantaged groups
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent computer skills, to include expertise in spreadsheets and database management
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong sense of leadership, self-direction and ability to work independently
  • Capacity to exercise sound judgment in selected areas with little benefit of precedent
  • Ability to function as a member of a team
  • Ability to cope with a high degree of job stress and organizational change
  • Experience with health systems strongly preferred

 

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to work remotely, however, must have the ability to travel as required.  Travel is primarily during the business day throughout Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Fulton, Hamilton, St. Lawrence, Warren, and Washington counties and to the HM AHEC office located in Latham (Albany County) as needed.
  • Must have a valid New York State driver’s license and vehicle or provide evidence of mobility within service area.
