BD is currently looking for: Quality Engineer II, Manufacturing Team Members (3rd Shift), Machinist (3rd Shift), and Engineering and Business Development Leader. More information about these positions can be found below.

Quality Engineer II

Summary of Position with General Responsibilities:

Coordinates and performs Quality Assurance functions to support Manufacturing Areas as well as Supplier Quality, as assigned. Takes a leadership role in driving Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Evaluate Quality issues and drives corrective action.
  • Evaluate customer complaints and drives corrective action.
  • With the Supplier Quality function, act as liaison to suppliers relative to Quality issues and corrective actions.
  • Use failure investigation tools to investigate causes of Customer, Manufacturing, and Supplier Quality issues. Take the lead with other functional groups in resolving these issues.
  • Lead Quality Improvement projects.
  • Serve as Quality representative on Material Review Board. Take the lead in driving corrective action from MRB.
  • Serve as Quality representative for technology transfers, cost improvement projects, etc.
  • Interface with other functional areas as required for writing specifications, preparing protocols and reports, implementing changes, completing process validation requirements, etc.
  • Develop appropriate test and inspection procedures and sample plans to ensure the highest possible quality at a reasonable cost.
  • Develop, validate, and modify test methods and appropriate inspection procedures and protocols.
  • Review and approve changes to procedures and specifications.
  • Track and respond to quality trends.
  • Apply risk-based, statistical, or sound engineering judgment when making quality decisions.
  • May assist with audits as needed.
  • May support Supplier Quality Team as needed.
  • Other duties as required.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Applied Sciences.
  • At least 2 years experience in Quality in the medical device industry or other regulated industry.
  • ASQ Quality Engineer certification is strongly preferred.

Physical Demands:

Occasionally requires light physical effort as in periods of prolonged standing, sitting at files or work tables, or bending, stooping, or reaching, and/or occasional lifting of light items (i.e. up to 30 lbs). May require some exposure to chemicals used in manufacturing processes.

Work Environment:

Some minor physical inconvenience or discomfort occasionally present in the work environment (moderate noise, disagreeable odors, etc.). Occasional exposure to potential for minor injury or other health hazard requiring some precaution.

Training Requirements:

On-the-job, SOPs required for position and GMP.

Manufacturing Team Members (3rd Shift)

*** Up to $2,500 hiring incentive being offered to new hires based on manufacturing position eligibility. ***

3rd Shift: Sunday through Thursday from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible for following safety and housekeeping policies and procedures as well as all required GMP’s and applicable manufacturing procedures.
  • Perform a variety of duties to assemble all types and sizes of product, components, and sub-assemblies using a variety of standard and specialty assembly machines or hand operations.  May be required to press, bond, solder, flare, strip, clamp, sand, weld, mount/takedown or inspect for appearance, gauging of parts by “no-go” or “go” gauges and set fixtures.
  • After initial training, shows the ability to consistently meet daily production goals while building a high quality product, part or subassembly to specification.
  • Set up, operates, perform minor maintenance and minor troubleshooting on equipment.
  • Follow department procedures on material replenishment.
  • Assists in training of manufacturing personnel.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities to enhance team performance.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and report to work on a regular, punctual basis.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate well with others.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Ability to read, write, interpret, comprehend and consistently follow specifications written in English.

Ability to work under magnification for long periods of time. Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time. Able to lift 30 lbs (over 30 with assistance). Repetitive use of hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms and/or perform repetitive hand/wrist movement.

Machinist (3rd Shift)

Job Description Summary

Set up, troubleshoot and operate computer numerically controlled machines and/or machining centers and related equipment. Perform multiple machining operations on various materials, as well as perform required dimensional and visual inspections.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Proficiently setup, operate and learn to troubleshoot a variety of machining equipment per specified procedures.
  • Position non-preset and preset tooling in machine, position and adjust fixturing, and prepare ancillary equipment, in an expeditious manner.
  • Make preliminary dimensional and visual evaluations using various inspection tools, preparing the process for production.
  • Make offsets and evaluate cutting tool performance to meet specifications and control process variations.
  • Maintain accurate records of part dimensions, SPC charts and process events.
  • Interpret SPC charts and inspection reports to assess process performance and make appropriate changes.
  • Expeditiously setup and operate a combination of machining equipment within the facility.
  • Demonstrate the ability to consistently meet daily production goals while building a high quality product, part or subassembly to specification.
  • Read and understand parts program and alter simple instructions (e.g. offsets, and specified user controlled parameters as required per related process specifications).
  • Understand the concepts concerning Cartesian coordinates, speeds, feeds, depth of cut, etc.
  • Perform basic maintenance and routine housekeeping duties to the machines and associated equipment.
  • Report malfunctions of equipment and process deviations.
  • May periodically need to assist in orienting and training of others.
  • Maintain a neat, clean and a safe work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Ability to identify and perform adjustments to equipment, machines and devices within the limits of standard methods and procedures.
  • Must demonstrate a level of knowledge and competence to set up, operate and troubleshoot a combination of the following: CNC lathes, CNC mills, and/or related equipment, in a timely manner.
  • Understand SPC and utilize various measuring gages.
  • Ability to work from and read blueprints, follow operating procedures and complete required paperwork.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and assistance, as required.

Education and Experience:

  • Understanding of and competency in technology equivalent to 1-4 years  of CNC machining experience, in a high volume micro-machining environment.
  • This includes all related mathematics, communication and physical skills, required to perform the duties encompassed in the position.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Degree or Certification obtained through a technical institute specific to CNC Machining.

Engineering and Business Development Leader

Summary of Position with General Responsibilities:

Manage and Lead Engineering Programs and technical resources to achieve facility and corporate vision, strategies and goals.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Participates in developing and executing strategic initiatives for the facility.
  • Recruit, train, and develop technical resources to support the plant goals and business strategies.
  • Prioritize projects and programs based on business needs and resource requirements.
  • Manage and participate in programs to achieve:
  • Process improvement and cost reduction.
  • High standards of facility compliance.
  • Process validation.
  • Technology transfers (on-load/off-load)
  • Plan, organize, and direct engineering documentation/reports that are scientifically based, reliable, and verifiable.
  • Network with internal and external customers to develop an effective service organization.
  • Demonstrate the vision to develop an effective, proactive, technical organization.
  • Continuously improve the operating procedures of the Quality System.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of managing staff of Engineers, and multi-disciplinary teams with measurable results.
  • Excellent leadership and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of process validation.
  • Experience in Medical Device engineering, and working knowledge of FDA/ISO regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated understanding of financial cost systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possessing or pursuing an Advanced Degree.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Four(4) year Engineering/Technical Degree, plus
  • Five (5) years of experience in a Continuous Improvement medical device manufacturing environment.

Physical Demands:
